Passion Makes the Difference:
It is very difficult to create great products and marketing campaigns that move society without the element of passion. If you are wondering why your ideas and strategies are not fulfilling your goals and dreams, your lackluster achievements may be due to a lack of passion.
On the other hand, if your goals and dreams are growing faster than your expectations, MatterMax Media contends that passion, more than likely, is the driving force in that equation.
In the event that your goals and dreams are not growing, MatterMax Media recommends that you take a moment to step out of your normal mindset – question who you are, what you want to accomplish, where you are and where you are going. If you realize that you are working just to get paid, that can ultimately lead to the “bridge to nowhere” syndrome. All of the great innovators of the last century share a common character trait: Passion!
Love:
Love is the strongest developer that triggers the thought processes. When you love something, nothing can stand in the creative path of your game changing idea. Love feeds passion. Passion allows you to follow your dreams and bring them to the world stage.
For the Love of the Game:
Michael Jordan, considered by many, to be one of the most prolific basketball players of all time, might never have emerged as the player we all longed to see were it not for his passion for the game of basketball. If he had given up on his dream to play basketball when he had been cut from his high school basketball team, we would not have known “Air Jordan” the way we do today.
Michael Jordan did not quit. Why? His passion for the game he truly loved would not allow him to quit. In short, his passion for the game of basketball, consumed his thought processes, and at the end of the day, drove him to new heights.
Visionary Passion:
Have you ever wondered who would have become the father of special effects for motion picture and film, if George Lucas had quit in his pursuit to get Star Wars produced?
All of the major Hollywood studios dismissed Mr. Lucas’ Star War Proposals except for one, Fox Studios. At the time Mr. Lucas was making his presentation rounds to the various studios, Fox Studios was flirting with bankruptcy, close to closing its doors, and in need of solidifying a film script, that would produce revenue, and ultimately allow the studio to continue to produce films.
Mr. Lucas’ vision and passion for Star Wars pushed him to sell his visionary dream to a group of Fox Studio executives. The rest is history. The blockbuster Star Wars series not only changed the way films were made, but also opened the minds of writers and studio execs alike. Passion struck another blow for success.
Changing the World:
The late Steve Jobs is considered to be one of the greatest technological geniuses of this, and the last century. Mr. Jobs’ tenacity and perseverance kept Apple in the game initially, even though, at one point, Jobs was fired from the company that he founded.
After Apple became desperate to stay afloat, the company offered Mr. Jobs an opportunity to return and take the helm. Mr. Jobs smartly negotiated his return to the company and today things have changed for Apple.
Apple is now the number one retailer in the world with more than half a trillion dollars cash on hand.
Mr. Jobs’ passion and love for technology drove his creativity to produce products that changed the game for many industries simultaneously: digital music, cell phone communication, graphic design, film editing, book publishing, to name a few. Love and Passion wins again.
Where is Your Passion?:
Many great entrepreneurial ideas are floating around the universe. More than likely, you have a few ideas yourself. The question to ask yourself is, “How do I know if my idea is a great idea?” That is the trillion dollar question!
MatterMax Media contends that if your idea is consuming your thought processes and tends to keep you up at night, then more than likely that idea is one you need to develop. However, the key to developing an idea into a great one is whether or not there is passion supporting that idea.
If you Don’t Love it, Don’t Do it:
It is important to understand that if you do not love an idea, it is more than likely you will not be great at developing and producing that idea. The love you have for an idea generates the passion, which in turn provides the tenacity and perseverance necessary for survival during the lean times.
Remember to follow your dreams and ideas despite the naysayers and skeptics you may encounter, who generally do not have the conviction to follow their own dreams, so they try hard to keep others back too.
Get quiet! Clear your mind and fall in love with what you really want to do. You will be surprised how quickly and precisely your ideas will come to light.
You have a week to find an idea that you love and hopefully develop a passion for the concept. Making sense of the next two Tuesday blog posts will be dependent on having an idea ready in order to continue the process of the “Dream Marketing” series.
